  • WHAT WE DO

BlocPower's online marketplace connects investors to institutional networks of energy efficiency projects in small businesses, houses of worship, and non-profits in underserved communities. Stay tuned!

    1) Aggregate buildings

BlocPower works with community leaders and institutions to assemble 4 or more non-profits, houses of worship, schools, small businesses or multi-family residences in financially underserved communities into a “Bloc” of potential retrofits.

    2) Financial Analysis

BlocPower performs a rigorous analysis of the financial strength of each customer, to establish the likelihood that customers will pay their energy bill over time.

    3) Engineering Analysis

BlocPower's experienced engineers perform a comprehensive energy audit of each property to determine the correct mix of high efficiency technology that will reduce each customer's energy consumption.

    4) Form "Blocs" of Solar and Energy Efficiency Projects

A "Bloc" is a micro-portfolio of projects that meets BlocPower's financial and engineering criteria.  Each "Bloc" spreads out the risk of default, creates pricing discounts, and increases transactional size--improving the economic feasibility of installing solar and energy efficiency technology in all projects.

    5) Financing

Investors concerned about climate change and job creation can invest in clean energy projects on BlocPower's online platform.

    6) Repayment

Investors who provide upfront project financing will be repaid out of the energy savings generated by each solar and energy efficiency project.

    7) Job Creation

BlocPower creates jobs for local underemployed workers from vulnerable populations. However, each worker must graduate from a rigorous, third party certified green jobs training program at the top of their class.

    Full Stack Engineer - Python

    Technology

    NYC

BlocPower connects impact investors to energy efficiency projects in churches, synagogues, non-profits, and small businesses in underserved communities. We identify potential green retrofit projects in underserved neighborhoods, then perform an energy audit with a combination of sensors and onsite audits by our engineers. We analyze their financial and energy bills to come up with a loan to finance the retrofit and then manage the engineering of the retrofit which is done, in part, by underemployed workers in underserved communities. As a member of our technology department you'll be writing the software that makes BlocPower work. This includes writing the software to help our engineers perform energy audits using our proprietary models; software that will help us analyze the big data that comes into our platform via sensors installed across our projects; and software that helps our team take projects through our pipeline. You’ll be helping to develop software for our entire business, from business development to green retrofit.

BlocPower is looking for a full stack developer who is excited to help revolutionize the green energy industry. We're looking for a team player who is ready to solve unique problems as we build out our energy audit engineering platform and operations. The position will require flexible thinking since you will be asked to contribute to the entire pipeline of our business. You will help build interfaces for collecting data from sensors and engineers in the field, help build the platform for engineers to analyze and develop algorithms to model energy savings, help finance design and refine financial models, and help engineers complete green retrofits. From start to finish, this position is loaded with an opportunity to touch all parts of the business.

    Required / Desired Skills

    • Python ( 3 to 5 years )

    • Flask and/or Django framework

    • Micro service architectures

    • Amazon Web Services
